The United Kingdom has been put on a health alert after authorities are said to be monitoring 27 different cases linked to the deadly meningitis outbreak that is said to have spread at a nightclub in southeast England.
The condition is said to be a potentially deadly infection that causes inflammation of the brain or spinal cord linings, and that could further lead to sepsis.
{img}Bacterial meningitis, as seen in the outbreak, is rarer and deadlier than the viral type.
Initial symptoms of this condition include headache, fever, extreme drowsiness, and a very stiff neck. But these symptoms of different ailments can coincide, making the diagnosis difficult at first. Another leading sign of the disease is a rash that can progress quickly.
