A school in Canada is going viral for all the wrong reasons after it sparked mega outrage for a shocking new decision.
This includes rolling out 'no food' zones at certain times inside the cafeteria in order to be more inclusive to Muslim kids who are fasting for Ramadan.
{img}Lunch areas at the Fairview School, which is located in Calgary, were named as food-free to support students undertaking the religious fast as per a new email sent out by administrators.
The email was designed to inform parents about how the cafeteria was a No Food Space during the first half of lunch for younger kids in grades four to six.
{img}Children in grades 7 to 9 would end up getting banned from eating food inside their lunch room for the full hour-long break, as per the email.
It's still not clear where these non-fasting students would be able to eat as an alternative. Calgary's education board snapped back fiercely at the criticism online, and confusingly put out a statement saying that the school made no changes to the designated lunch areas, despite acknowledging the email with new restrictions was sent out with the subject: 'To support students who might be fasting!'
