The US Embassy was recently struck in Baghdad, Iraq, with smoke seen billowing from the building.
Reports went on to suggest that part of the building's air defense system was taken out in the attack. The missile reportedly hit a helipad inside the embassy compound, as per security officials.

On Friday, the embassy was seen renewing its Level 4 security alert for Iraq, warning that Iran and Iran-aligned militia groups were previously seen carrying out attacks against US citizens, interests, and infrastructure, and they might continue to target them.

The groups have recently stepped up attacks on bases hosting US and coalition troops. Trump has vowed to retaliate by striking Iran's largest oil island after it launched a series of attacks on ships entering the Strait of Hormuz.
