The police shared a statement on the matter, mentioning: "Details on the call indicated that an adult female was on the nearby canal bank and was unresponsive." They also shared how officers arrived, and that's when they were able to locate the woman who was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

A later statement was shared by the cops, where they confirmed that the body did not have any links to the Nancy Guthrie case, and therefore, any speculations regarding this need to be avoided at all costs.

The incident has raised questions about why it's taking the authorities so long to find more clues regarding the possible kidnapping, as the slow pace of the investigation has frustrated the Guthrie family and others involved. This is even though so much evidence was attained.
