Actor Eric Dane's cause of death has been shared publicly after he passed away at the age of 53 following a year-long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is a progressive neurological disease.
{img}As per the details on the official death certificate, the immediate cause of death was respiratory failure, with ALS listed as the underlying condition that led to his sudden passing. Dane had been very public with his diagnosis in April of 2025 and even worked to raise more awareness regarding the impact of the condition while he continued to act whenever he could.

While the couple had separated and even filed for divorce years before, they withdrew the divorce filing in the year 2025 and supported one another and their family throughout his illness.
