# Chad Lowe’s Family Faces Another Heartbreaking Blow as Daughter’s Cause of Death Is Revealed

Chad Lowe and his family are mourning the loss of 13-year-old Fiona after the medical examiner revealed new details about her death.

Fiona Hepler Lowe, the daughter of actor Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, died on Sept. 29 at a local hospital. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has now ruled her death a suicide.

The news comes just days after the family announced Fiona’s death and asked for privacy as they grieved.

Lowe and Painter remembered their daughter as a loving, smart and creative girl who loved to dance. They said Fiona was deeply loved by her parents and adored by her sisters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.

“She was the light of our lives,” the family said in their statement, describing her passing as devastating for the entire family.

Fiona was the middle child of Chad and Kim’s three daughters. Her death has also deeply affected her school community, where students and staff were offered counseling following the tragedy.

The family has asked the public to respect their privacy while they mourn. They also used their statement to encourage anyone struggling with mental health or in crisis to seek support, sharing information for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

The family had previously faced another major loss when their home was destroyed in the 2025 Pacific Palisades fire. Chad had spoken publicly about how his daughters showed resilience following that experience.
