# Sharon Stone Sends a Blunt Message to ‘Euphoria’ Costar Sydney Sweeney

Sharon Stone has spoken out about Sydney Sweeney’s controversial new sports betting ad, telling her former “Euphoria” costar that she should take responsibility for the campaign.

Stone, 68, discussed the controversy with PEOPLE at Variety’s 2026 Power of Women event in Los Angeles on Sept. 23. Sweeney, 29, recently appeared in a provocative advertising campaign for sports betting platform Novig, where she poses with various sports equipment while promoting the app.

“I think that it’s up to her to take responsibility for her actions, not up to me to judge her for her actions,” Stone said. She added that she wanted to support women who have become champions in women’s sports.

Stone also criticized the way the campaign uses sexuality to promote sports betting, saying, “We can’t denigrate women’s sports to get men’s attention so they can gamble.”

The ad has faced criticism from several female athletes. British track star Amy Hunt criticized the campaign after a race interview, while American gymnast Gracie Kramer called it a step backward for women in sports and argued that women should not have to take their clothes off to prove they belong in athletics.

Stone and Sweeney previously worked together on “Euphoria,” where Stone also recently joked about Sweeney’s character’s storyline involving adult content.

This is not the first time Stone has commented publicly on a Sweeney controversy. She previously weighed in on Sweeney’s American Eagle jeans campaign in 2025.
