# Police Make a Major Move in Investigation Into 28-Year-Old Jogger’s Brutal Attack

A 28-year-old woman who was training for the New York City Marathon was left fighting for her life after a brutal stabbing attack during an evening run. Now, police have launched an extensive search as they work to identify the person responsible.

The woman, identified in reports as Katie Suarez, was attacked on a waterfront running and biking path in Brooklyn shortly after 8 p.m. on October 30. She suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck.

Her father reportedly went looking for her after she failed to return home. He eventually found her seriously injured on the path and called for help.

Suarez was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. Later reports said she had been declared brain dead, although the exact status of her condition should be confirmed through the latest official updates.

The investigation has involved a major deployment of NYPD resources. Police have used specialized units, including scuba teams, aviation resources, K9 dogs and drones, as they search for evidence and clues that could help identify the attacker.
