# 2 Dead and 35 Injured After Gunfire Erupts at Massive Homecoming Block Party

What was supposed to be a major homecoming celebration ended in tragedy after gunfire erupted at a crowded block party, killing two young men and injuring 35 others.

The shooting happened on October 19, 2026, during a gathering in Vienna, Georgia, that drew more than 1,000 people. The event was not officially sponsored by the school, although it took place during homecoming weekend. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as people scrambled to escape the gunfire.

Authorities said shots were fired in at least two locations, with investigators reporting that at least 50 rounds were fired. The injured ranged in age from 14 to 51. While many suffered gunshot wounds, others were hurt as people tried to flee the scene, including injuries involving vehicles.

The two men who died were identified as 21-year-old Ja’Quavion Aderious Jackson and 23-year-old Macaleb Malik Jackson. Their deaths have added to the heartbreak surrounding a gathering that had brought together a large crowd for the celebration.

The investigation has continued since the shooting. On October 20, a 17-year-old identified as Khadarius “KD” Ray was charged with possessing a firearm while under 18 and participating in criminal street gang activity. Authorities indicated that additional arrests could follow as they work to establish what led to the violence.

Investigators are still examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the events that unfolded across the crowded gathering. With dozens injured and two young lives lost, the case remains a major focus for authorities.
